The organisation

You will be working for a global specialist in veterinary pharmaceuticals. They have been active for over 200 years. The company is specialized in the development, production, marketing and sales of high quality products for veterinarians all over the world. They have almost 6000 product registrations and they distribute their products to almost 70 countries. Their HQ is based in the UK and they have offices in 25 countries and 7 production sites. You will be part of their team of 2000 global colleagues. In the Netherlands they have 3 locations, you will be based in the production site in the Eindhoven area. The position

As a Site Director, you will be accountable for leading the Manufacturing facility to deliver its objectives around People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Sustainability in alignment with the global manufacturing and supply strategy. As part of the global Pharmaceutical Manufacturing & Supply Chain (PM&S) Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to the development, design and execution of the overall PM&S strategy that delivers best in class performance with a clear focus on zero harm, zero defects and zero waste, ensuring continuity of supply of products to the commercial markets.

Tasks & responsibilities

It's a very senior position with a variety of tasks and responsibilities, such as:

  • Translating the future PM&S strategy into the Site Business Plan;
  • Setting the direction for the site, contributing to and formulating the strategy and the long-term vision for the site, and ensuring investment in facilities and people to secure necessary standards going forward;
  • Leading and inspiring all staff on site by being seen as a role model who champions the company values & behaviours;
  • Building the site’s capability to succeed in a challenging, competitive and complex environment;
  • Engaging and building strong relationships with key stakeholders within the wider company, such as Regulatory Affairs, Product Development, Commercial, IT, HR, Logistics and Legal;
  • Managing the reputation of your company in the local community by developing relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and external stakeholders;
  • Integrating, leading, challenging and empowering Site Leadership Team (SLT) and fostering a climate of teamwork, collaboration and continuous improvement;
  • Implementing initiatives to support wellbeing and employee engagement scores to ensure we deliver a great place to work for all our employees;
  • Contributing at all leadership team meetings with a Group view and at a strategic level;
  • Leading a high performing and competitive manufacturing site;
  • Coaching and mentoring SLT members and providing suitable direction and guidance;
  • Leading talent and succession planning to develop future SLT members;
  • Supporting in daily crisis management situations;
  • Ensuring a balance between Safety, Quality, Delivery, People, Cost and Sustainability;
  • Implementing and improving the Operational Excellence Production System and the Global Engineering Standards across the site;
  • Interpreting local and industry trends and their impact on the site;
  • Ensuring compliance with Regulatory requirements, anticipating new requirements and proposing related strategies to ensure a fit for purpose and fit for the future site;
  • Risk management, corporate governance, financial rigor, quality processes, making sure Business Continuity Plans are maintained;
  • Managing new product introductions and technical transfers and that they are delivered on time in full;
  • Finally, you have dimensional responsibilities for: site headcount and SLT as direct and indirect reports, CapEx budget and management, Site P&L Costs & supporting delivery to facilitate sales.

Candidate profile

To be successful in this role as a Site Director you have a degree in Science/Engineering/Business or equivalent. You have previous experience working within a steriles manufacturing environment in a management position within quality, supply chain or manufacturing operations. You have a proven track record of leading operational teams. You possess working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment requirements & legislation. You also have significant working knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies, supply chain working practices & quality standards. We are looking for someone with proven experience of managing an operational P&L.
Because of your former experience, you have a good understanding of technical transfer of pharmaceutical production and experience with receiving regulatory inspections specifically to FDA & EMA. You combine these experiences with demonstrated change management capabilities. You are familiar with Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence concepts and approaches. You have experience with contract manufacturing organizations, Logistics & Distribution Knowledge and you have a good understanding of Pharmaceutical Product Development.
If you have experience with veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturing and it’s associated regulations, this will be considered a hug plus.
You are fluent in English, it is highly desirable for you to be able to communicate in Dutch at business level, as the site language is Dutch. Your new employer can offer language courses to help you improve your Dutch if needed.

It will be possible to work from home 1 day a week (or maybe more) at a later stage, when the site is in a more stable position. If you are currently living abroad and you are willing to move (back) to the Netherlands for this position, relocation support is available.
