Procurement Director Europe and Central Asia, 
based at the European Operations Center in Heerlen

Our Challange

Heerlen houses our largest Distribution Center outside of the U.S. Every day, about 450 professionals in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Warehousing and Logistics work closely together to order, deliver around 50.000 medical products and devices to hospitals around the world. In this dynamical and challenging environment, cutting edge technologies and Lean Sigma initiatives ensure excellent quality, swift delivery and ultimately our patients' safety and health! Our Procurement team drives indirect cost savings and category management for Europe and Central Asia (ECA), which includes office productivity, mobility, travel, technology, consulting, and other related categories, but excludes manufacturing sites. Their main objective is to develop a working framework to engage and enable sales offices and distribution centers within the geography to comply with procurement initiatives. The team consists of 9 direct employees and has a strong link with Global purchasing in Minneapolis and our regional headquarters in Switzerland. We are currently looking for an experiences Director to manage this team and provide strategic leadership and direction to the Procurement function.

Our offer

Within this challenging role you will develop a professional Strategic Sourcing approach for our region. Together with your team, you will implement annual plans (cost, efficiency, headcount, investments, organization), business performance objectives, metrics and measures to ensure we meet or exceed our expectation. You will maintain transparency to all spend activities and transactions within our region and establish and manage regional contracts for major commodity areas. In conjunction with ncial Shared Services Center you will identify and share internal and external best practices ies within the Procure to Pay process, in order to achieve operating leverage cross-country and cross-business unit. Next to this you will actively contribute to the development of the Global Indirect Strategic Sourcing strategy by addressing specific ECA needs and complexity and then drive the implementation and effective execution of strategic initiatives, processes, procedures, systems and score-cards within our region. This requires strong partnerships with country and business leadership, which you will actively build.

Your profile

• Advanced degree (Masters or MBA)
• 7-10 years of procurement experience in a multinational matrix organization
• Strong knowledge of materials management and logistics
• Excellent project management skills
• Demonstrated skills in change management
• Experience in managing a significant budget
• Ability to manage virtual teams
• Advanced knowledge of ERP systems and E-commerce tools is a plus
• Lean Sigma knowledge is a plus
• Willingness to travel internationally extensively
