The position

The Managing Director will independently set up and build the brand-new business unit of JD.com in The Netherlands. You ensure this innovative (r)etailer is ready to take the Dutch market by storm as soon as possible. Focus is on developing a successful local omni-channel approach, which includes opening a number of stores as well as an online platform. First action is to rapidly create a professional and highly energetic team to execute all plans and to set the first structures and processes for the Dutch office. You take full control and feel comfortable in a highly dynamic and international start-up.

JD.com is looking for a highly entrepreneurial and energetic Managing Director for The Netherlands, who is willing to commit to starting up the business and reach the ambitious local goals. An eager director with a track record in retail and food, who is also an excellent people manager and an inspiring leader. Experience in category management and operations would be beneficiary to set the right local strategy. A flexible, hands-on mentality is required. 

Candidate profile

  • 15+ years of relevant commercial experience, with a track record in retail and food
  • Omni-channel approach
  • Driven to build a local business unit 
  • Experience in category management and operations is a plus
  • Inspiring and decisive leader, hands-on and pragmatic strategist
  • Ownership, team builder, excellent communication and social skills
  • Fluency in English
