Job description of the International Business Manager

You work directly from your home (office) in Germany.

Market Expertise 

  • Research local e-commerce practice to identify shopping experience best suited for local customers. 
  • Partner with the Strategy group to quantify and segment local market. 
  • Conduct competitive landscape research to ensure our client is well positioned for success. 
  • Partner with Product Management to conduct usability research to understand and solve our customers’ pain points on our clients website.

Localization/Customization  

  • Translate market requirements and research results into actionable projects for implementation. 
  • Build business case for each project with data and analysis. 
  • Prioritize projects by balancing impact and speed of execution.
  • Marketing 
  • Develop marketing strategy by defining value proposition and effective communication style to use consistently across all customer interfacing media. 
  • Partner with Search, Email and Affiliate teams to optimize each marketing channel based on a holistic market strategy. 
  • Negotiate with external parties such as vendors, retail partners and affiliates to ensure ideal exposure and placements. 
  • Identify new partnership opportunity that places our client in front of prospective customers.
  • Product Management 
  • Monitor traffic and drive conversion improvement on website. 
  • Ensure existing features on the website are customized for local customers. 
  • Provide localization/customization requirements to maximize effectiveness of new website feature launches. 
  • Conduct language QA if needed or prioritize language issues on website.

Communication and Leadership 

  • Work with all cross functional groups not limited to Marketing and Product Management, but also with Merchandising, Finance, Operations, Customer Support and Engineering to clearly communicate market goals and strategies. 
  • Develop persuasive presentations that achieve results.

Knowledge, Skills and experience of the International Business Manager

Marketing experience (5-10 years) for German market at an e-commerce business required. UK, Swiss and Austrian market experience a plus. 

  • Online marketing experience in one of the three channels - SEM, Email or Affiliate - required. 
  • Product management, product marketing, business development or project management experience a plus.
  • Highly organized with a strong project management experience. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and extremely analytical. Must be metrics driven. 
  • Ability to grasp abstract issues and identify concrete solution. 
  • German native speaker is a must. 
  • BA or BS degree.
