In this position you are responsible for the overall leadership of the Land Transport business within the cluster Benelux, with over 800 employees. Together with your team you will empower the business unit in the areas of operations, product and services as well as in business development. You will ensure the competiveness, pro?tability and an excellent customer satisfaction while driving the product strategy, solution design and sales activities in close alignment with relevant internal and external interfaces. In addition, you will act as a key member of the cluster`s Senior Management Board and will play a gravitational role within the European Land Management Team. The role reports to the Regional Head of Land and to the CEO of the Cluster Benelux.
The position
As the Head of Land you are responsible for translating and applying strategy & standards into local competitive environment.
Tasks & responsibilities
As the Head of Land you are responsible for translating and applying strategy & standards into local competitive environment. Next to directly steering all 6 guiding land transport functions as well as branch managers, you are managing interactions with P&O, Finance and IT. P&L of Land Transport per Cluster is composed of individual branch P&Ls, therefore you are strongly performance managing the branch managers. You are enforcing Land Transports' interests in Cluster Management Boards.
Main responsibilities are:
Derive the cluster`s land transport strategy from the DB Schenker European and Global approach, recommend and implement the same and define respective targets in alignment with relevant interfaces; Ensure the constant optimization of the organizational structure and process organization.
Provide leadership and direction to the business in order to achieve aggressive and realistic targets; Manage the further development of core and associated markets.
Responsible for product development, implementation and performance in the area of land transport; Provide a constant innovation pipeline regarding the product and service portfolio and ensure the implementation of respective measures.
Supervise negotiations with relevant Key Accounts in close alignment with internal and external stakeholders; Manage consistent baselining in terms of pricing, solutions design, KPIs,tender processes and operational standards.
Mentor, guide and inspire the assigned teams and ensure the overall leadership, work-force allocation, development, and performance; Set up and manage a state-of-the-art working environment.
Represent DB Schenker towards business partners, stakeholders and associations.
Key performance indicators related to the position are EBIT performance versus budget and per year,
performance of quality indicators, customer satisfaction score, employee satisfaction score.
Candidate profile
The preferred candidate has profound experience of at least 10 years in senior management positions with a clear focus on operating an integrated logistics organization from a General Management perspective. A comprehensive growth and process orientation focusing on transformational leadership and performance and a good sense of pragmatism are required as a strong personal attitude in order to create market success and to shape the direction for future business development.
Extensive track record in the development, management and motivation of cross-functional teams towards outstanding results and performance paired with empathy and re-markable interpersonal skills.
In-depth knowledge and experience in the overall management of business units in the Land Transport and Logistics Industry. Distinct feeling for processes and market opportunities, result orientation and practical understanding. Proven expertise in managing and influencing complex matrix structures and interfaces from a Service and Business Development perspective. Ability to establish and maintain trustful relationships with customers and stakeholders, fulfilling contractual demands and delivering growth.
Good understanding and ability to evaluate risks, performance and client indicators. Ability to adapt and adjust tactical operations and implement successful long-term strategies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, assertiveness and well-balanced between large-scaling and details.
