The position

The Director L&P Engineering will manage an organization of technical engineering professionals, divided into a Continuous Improvement, Lean and Manufacturing Analytics group. The department is leading the process engineering and continuous improvement of product and manufacturing solutions within the plant. The Director L&P Engineering must be able to further develop, mentor, and manage the teams. Be able to take direction from and provide direction to global management teams with regards to Engineering strategy and projects.

The Director L&P Engineering will focus on project details while at the same time understand the strategy for the entire organization. The Director L&P Engineering is part of the Vistaprint Venlo Management team and reports to the Plant Director.

The Management team consists of: Plant Director, HR Director, Finance Director, Director MSC, Supply Chain Director & Senior Director Operations. The current department consists of 20 people with approximately 4 direct reports.

The Director Lean & Process Engineering interfaces with the Director MSC on numerous engineering projects, the Venlo Leadership Team (Operations, IT, SC, HR, Finance), Global Engineering, Operations & Logistics functions and stays in contact with external suppliers to stay up to date with core technology topics.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring high value engineering work is delivered across the total services portfolio.
• Defining continuous process improvement projects and deployment roadmaps and being responsible for roll out.
• Ensures that Manufacturing Analytics provides the plant with accurate, on time data and analyses to further optimize planning and business performance.
• Being part of the MT and working closely with senior management to ensure overall goals, and objectives of the plant are being met.
• Manufacturing processes problem solving to create a sustained and controlled manufacturing environment.
• Hiring and growing world class engineering professionals within the team.

Candidate profile

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering within a Manufacturing environment (WCM is an advantage).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a senior manager (Engineering Manager or Director) with budget and team management responsibilities. 
• Proven experience in championing Six Sigma and Lean programs.
• Proven project management skills and the ability to develop technology concepts.
• Fluency in English is a necessity, German is advantageous.
