Headhunter
&deBlauw for Last Energy

The organisation

After years of research, EIC launched Last Energy to put their findings into action: integrate proven reactor technology and a full-service delivery model to scale nuclear, decarbonize energy production, and increase access to clean affordable power. Ultimately their goal is to reverse climate change.

The first 12 sites in Europe are either operational or have been landed by a final investment decision, 7 in the UK, 3 in Poland and 2 in Romania. No PPA’s have been agreed to in The Netherlands yet, but the potential is tremendous. The position of Last Energy in The Netherlands is that the provinces and other stakeholders in the market arte getting more active in securing PPA’s through sustainable energy solutions. Once the industry is getting involved in the proposition of affordable and green energy, the expectations are that Last Energy will be able to grow rapidly and sustainably.

The roll-out strategy envisages multiple sites under construction and in operation in key locations in The Netherlands over the next years. Starting with at least a 5MW PPA in 2024 and growth to what market needs. Last Energy has the ambition to be a major player in the renewable energy supply in the industrial sector and secure PPA’s in what is expected to be a fast growing market.

The position

  • The interim director who is currently biting the bullet for Last Energy since two years, will stay on board as an interim advisor for the CEO and Last Energy, however will not be the leader of the country setup in The Netherlands. For this we have an opportunity for an entrepreneurial CEO to lead the Dutch branch of Last Energy.
  • Your assignment is to take the lead in making Last Energy’s ambitious dreams, in changing the renewable power market, reality.
  • You will be given plenty of entrepreneurial freedom and will guide the (US-)organisation through the expansion in the Netherlands.
  • Your mission is to grow significantly in closing PPA’s and have legal and environmental approvals via stakeholders, thus contributing to a climate reversed economy.
  • You develop and lead the strategic direction of Last Energy, ensuring it meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
  • The core challenges of the role are to ensure closed PPA’s as well as bringing the financial and commercial acumen to balance short term financial performance and longer term build out in megawatts.
  • You will be given the entrepreneurial freedom and accountability to lead the organisation through a rapid expansion in the Netherlands, in line with the strategy and the resources agreed with the board in the US.

Candidate profile

  • Master’s degree. MBA seen as beneficial
  • Well rooted in the Dutch energy or industry sectors, and experience in doing business with large players and stakeholders
  • Energy track record showing strong commercial, entrepreneurial, business development skills, a good head for Government Affairs
  • Mid-career leader, with sufficient experience and gravitas to take on this broad role bringing significant further runway
  • Succesful: Securing a PPA, as a fully wrapped project exceeding 5 MW in the first year
