Hortimare is one of the few companies in the world specialised in the breeding and propagating of seaweed. As Chief Commercial Officer, you'll shape commercial strategy, build valuable partnerships, and strengthen the company's position in the expanding international seaweed sector.

What are you going to do?

As Chief Commercial Officer at Hortimare, you lead the design and implementation of commercial strategy aligned with the company's focus on breeding excellence. You identify market opportunities, translate industry challenges into concrete actions, and manage client relationships while working closely with the COO and R&D team to ensure alignment across all departments.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Develop and execute long-term commercial strategies aligned with strategic objectives
• Identify and prioritize market opportunities across the seaweed value chain
• Guide business model evolution based on client needs and market dynamics
• Lead the commercial team and coordinate with marketing on strategic messaging
• Build and maintain strong client relationships in the international market
• Monitor industry developments to ensure credible and future-proof positioning
• Contribute to roadmaps for international growth and IP strategy
• Drive revenue growth through strategic commercial activities

Candidate profile

You excel at strategic thinking while maintaining practical execution abilities. Your communication skills enable you to bridge scientific, operational, and commercial domains effectively. You demonstrate leadership in building relationships, identifying opportunities, and translating complex challenges into actionable commercial plans.

Job requirements:

• 7+ years experience in senior commercial or strategic roles
• Background in agritech, biotech, or aquaculture sectors
• Proven track record in designing commercial strategies
• Experience developing innovative business models
• Fluency in English; Dutch is advantageous
• Based in the Netherlands or willing to relocate
• Comfortable with international travel requirements
