The organisation

SEGRO is a leading owner, asset manager and developer of modern warehousing and light industrial properties, with £4.5 billion of assets (including joint ventures at Group share) principally concentrated in London's Western Corridor (including the Thames Valley) and in key conurbations in France, Germany and Poland. It also develops and owns warehouses in important distribution markets in the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, and offices in Slough.

The position

The role's main purpose is to provide project management services to our "in-house" or "out-of-house" customers leading to successful delivery of new property assets or major refurbishments.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Is the Process Manager for Costs, Quality, Planning, Information, Environment and Procedures in the preparation and realisation of construction projects
  • Identifies and prioritises overall project objectives for the Development Managers or Head of Asset Manager or Head of Benelux (depending on country structure) and assists in the preparation of project briefs, project appraisals and board papers
  • Prepares scope documents, interviews and negotiates with potential design team members & external contractors
  • Makes recommendations to the Development Managers or Head of Asset Manager or Head of Benelux (depending on project size and country structure) for their appointments
  • Leads the design and construction teams to successful completion (within planning, minimising costs and risks, and optimising quality and sustainability during the whole process) and hands over the projects
  • Manages site supervision (quality, Health & Safety, environment, progress of works)
  • Involves Asset and Property Management for the maintenance related issues
  • Assists Letting Officers with the leasing, trading or late tenant fit outs
  • Cooperates with Products Groups to optimise the SEGRO products in terms of cost, quality and sustainability

Candidate profile

Essential:

  • Possesses a professional construction related qualification with "on site" experience. 
  • Has extensive knowledge and experience of project management, project design, specification and building construction techniques, details and prices
  • Has experience in collaborative working
  • Has experience of engineering, construction, design & build and procurement methods
  • Is skilled in the leadership, influencing and motivation of design and construction teams
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in local language + English

Desirable:

  • Has experience of cost reporting processes
  • Understands development appraisal process
  • Knows legal background to design appointments, construction contracts, Agreement to Lease
  • Experience of EMS and Health & Safety responsibilities on employers, designers and contractors
