The position

Reporting to the CTO, the IT Director is a proven people leader and has a demonstrated ability to guide teams to new heights, continuous improvement and success. He or she is driven by innovation, strong leadership, commitment and ownership for results while setting the right environment for teams and people to excel.

Tasks & responsibilities

Adopting, aligning, conveying and coordinating the implementation of the IT strategy in all its platform architecture, software development and delivery aspects. Managing business/product expectations effectively, ensuring project, stories & issues are clear, tracked, reported on and executed in a timely manner. 

Acting leadership by example in role-modeling for output-driven ownership for all IT staff. Promoting and proactive communication styles to service for help when time-based deliveries get out of sync on team or individual levels.

Managing scrum masters and team lead delivering high-quality software in accordance with business/product requirements and (roadmap) planning. Communicating effectively with internal stakeholders to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.

Candidate profile

• Leading experience in managing engineering teams in high traffic online (B2C) platforms.
• Strong leader, proactive communicator while hands-on solutions seeker. Flexible and comfortable with adapting to changing requirements.
• Persistent desire to innovate, automate, and continually improve processes and productivities
• Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills, sense of ownership, pragmatic creativity and results driven.
• Eye for detail, security, stability and resiliency.

Technical Background:

• Strong experience with building, operating and maintaining complex systems at scale.
• Experience with container management and microservice architectures.
• Strong familiarity with Java and (AWS) cloud services.
• Basic knowledge with eagerness to learn more in areas like: PHP/Java, Docker, Kubernetes, Apache, Kafka streams, MySQL
• Awareness and insight into industry trends (technology, methods, and tooling).
• Fluent in the English language both spoken and written.
