CubeCold specializes in temperature-controlled logistics solutions for the food and pharmaceutical industries. Continuous cooled storage is a requirement for many fresh foods and medicines – but cooled storage capacity is difficult or expensive to build and maintain in-house. CubeCold was founded in 2021 to solve this issue, by building an integrated platform that offers producers of food, and pharmaceuticals end-to-end logistics solutions from the CubeCold network.

This international network is CubeCold’s USP, created through a buy-and-build strategy. The company has acquired several medium-sized family businesses in the United Kingdom, Italy, and the Benelux since its inception. These businesses are active in cold storage and transportation, or they perform other activities within the cooled storage and logistics value chain. CubeCold wants to continue making several strategic acquisitions each year, to further increase its market share throughout Europe.

The full CubeCold team – including the central platform team at the Rotterdam headquarters and the local teams in the acquired businesses – now encompasses around 450 employees. As the company continues to expand rapidly through acquisitions, CubeCold’s Integration Manager will be pivotal in integrating newly acquired companies into a robust organizational framework.

The position

For some products, like certain pharmaceuticals and fresh foods, storage at the exact right temperatures is crucial. CubeCold’s end-to-end, temperature-controlled logistics solution for storing and transporting these products is a game-changer for manufacturers across Europe. The Integration Manager ensures all acquired family businesses are seamlessly integrated into CubeCold’s brand, systems, and processes.

The Integration Manager leads the integration of newly acquired companies into CubeCold’s operational and strategic framework, planning and executing all strategic integration activities. This includes developing comprehensive integration and synergy plans for newly acquired companies and coordinating cross-functional teams to align on objectives and timelines. They also monitor progress on integration initiatives and report to senior management in a concise, convincing manner.

The Integration Manager reports to the Head of M&A and plays a key role in realizing the growth ambitions of the international organization. They work from Rotterdam but also travel frequently to the different locations – especially in the beginning, when building report with the different businesses and their management teams is key. This role is pivotal in ensuring newly acquired entities are swiftly and efficiently brought up to CubeCold’s standards, thus maximizing synergies across a leading European brand.

Tasks & responsibilities

Process integration is an important component of this role. The Integration Manager assesses existing processes within acquired companies and identifies areas where processes are to be aligned with CubeCold standards. They also facilitate and champion the sharing of best practices, whereby newly acquired companies and the existing organization are encouraged to learn from each other.

This person is also responsible for integrating IT, operations, finance, and legal functions where appropriate – in close cooperation with the different functions. The Integration Manager leads and oversees the integration of IT and finance systems and infrastructure, ensuring data integrity and security during this process. They align financial planning, identify opportunities for operational synergies and cost savings, and ensure compliance with local regulations and CubeCold’s corporate practices. And of course, they foster a collaborative culture across the entire organization.

This role also has a strong stakeholder management component. Acquired companies are family businesses across multiple countries, each with their own organizational history, culture, teams, and ways of working. The Integration Manager swiftly builds a network across these companies, establishing themselves as a credible sparring partner with the cultural sensitivity to manoeuvre challenging situations and the gravitas to steer integration in the right direction.
