In under a decade, BMS has grown from a German start-up into a highly profitable, multi-country mobility and leasing platform, active across Europe. With strong financial health, a powerful shareholder structure, and a technology-enabled business model, the company is now entering its next chapter of international expansion.

Technology, platforms, and data are becoming core value drivers—enabling international scale, M&A velocity, ecosystem control, remarketing, insurance, and captive leasing. What once served as support functions are now central to the company’s competitive advantage and future growth.

This next phase requires strong technical leadership to provide clear direction, near-term stabilisation, and the ability to orchestrate ecosystem-wide complexity.

The position

The CTO is responsible for shaping and executing the group-wide technology, data and platform strategy that will enable BMS to scale faster, integrate smarter and operate as one international platform organisation.

This is not a traditional IT operations role. The CTO will:

  • Build and scale BMS as a true international platform organisation
  • Consolidate and professionalise the current technology landscape
  • Design a future-proof, modular and scalable group architecture
  • Turn technology into a strategic growth and valuation driver
  • Develop a high-performing international tech and product organisation
  • Serve as a close strategic partner to the CEO, CFO, board and shareholders.

The CTO must combine entrepreneurial pragmatism with platform thinking, approach technology from a product-first perspective, work effectively across multiple business units and drive IT performance based on business outcomes.

Candidate profile

  • Experience & Background
    • Senior technology or platform leader from a high-growth, international, platform-based organisation (marketplace, SaaS, fintech, mobility, payments, leasing or similar).
    • Proven experience scaling platform organisations across multiple countries and business units.
    • Strong track record in platform consolidation, architectural modernisation, international rollout and M&A technology integration.
    • Experience with B2C or B2B marketplace-style platforms is a strong plus.
    • Comfortable managing capex and opex at significant scale.
  • Leadership Style & Personality
    • Pragmatic, concrete, execution-oriented and detail-driven.
    • Strong communicator with the ability to inspire groups through narrative clarity.
    • Capable of deep technical dive when necessary.
    • Comfortable as an introvert or low-ego leader.
    • Firm and confident without being authoritarian.
    • Naturally links technology to business impact.
  • Personal Fit
    • Thrives in fast-growing, young, non-hierarchical environments.
    • Motivated by building what does not yet exist.
    • Comfortable with the shift from local to central ownership.
    • Able to travel approximately two days per week.
  • Languages & Location
    • English required.
    • German strongly preferred.
    • Living in the Netherlands preferred.
