The position

As CIO/CTO you will be a key member of the highly driven Management Team, not only leading the technology function but importantly working closely with the rest of the leadership team to identify and oversee the best technology solution for delivering services as the leading local access centric Managed Network Operator. The CIO/CTO plays an integral role in setting the company’s strategic direction, development and future growth.

You will guide and inspire our engineers with your deep knowledge and experience in computer science practices, and evangelise technology throughout the business. The company uses agile methodologies and you will be expected to extend and solidify those efforts.

You will establish the company’s technical vision, develop the technology roadmap using the most appropriate technologies, lead all aspects of the company’s products, solutions and to go to market readiness, and manage and expand our in-house engineering teams to support our growth. As a technology leader, the CIO/CTO needs to be able to see IT at macro and micro levels simultaneously within the company, together with understanding of a business environment and hands-on experience in security optimization, network engineering, SaaS/PaaS and software solutions. The role necessitates a hands-on approach, whilst keeping a sharp eye on the Company’s strategy.

You do this by leading our Product and Technology teams and inspiring them to develop our tech organization into a passionate, flexible and innovative backbone of continued growth.

As CIO/CTO you will report into the CEO and you will be invited regularly to the board meetings.

Tasks & responsibilties

• Forming and delivering the technical strategy
• Formulate, articulate and execute the products and solutions roadmap based on market understanding, industry trends and customer needs
• Provide technical leadership and support the commercial development [identifying and helping us win new business and help us develop our own suite of products]
• Manage development of solutions in the most cost effective manner within quality standards
• Provide oversight, lead and be accountable for technical decisions
• Be the “technical owner” for all projects, taking overall ownership for solutions that are delivered
• Identify the right technical solutions for the business/project
• Be responsible for business infrastructure, applications and technical support
• Provide regular and effective reporting to the board to assist with running the business
• Champion innovation and the continual development of technology and products
• Actively engage with vendors, suppliers, prospects and clients as a thought leader and expert in (software) innovation and product development

Candidate profile

• You hold substantial related experience combined with a higher education
• English proficiency is a must, along with excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
• You have a passion for the latest technologies. You explore new trends and form opinions about which will become mainstream and how they will impact industries
• Hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies and preferably one of the following: .NET/ Java, SaaS and PaaS platforms
• You are an expert and firm believer in lean start-up and agile software development methodologies
• You can be described as a high energy person with a positive attitude, and a team player with the willingness to do what it takes to get things done
• We expect you to have experience managing teams distributed across several countries
