As a result of the Brexit and their growth strategy the Market Monitoring and Surveillance team is currently looking for a Market Supervision Manager for their Amsterdam office.
As Market Supervision manager you are a managerial professional to oversee secondary market trading on our client ensuring that trading is orderly, efficient and in compliance with the trading venue rules. This role involves supervision of the detection and initial investigation of possible instances of market abuse offences for potential referral to the relevant competent authority. The role reports into Head of Turquoise Europe with a dual reporting line the Head of Market Supervision, based in UK.
Market Supervision is within the Regulation department. Regulation is responsible for regulating all the markets operated by our client. Market Supervision is currently divided into four sub-teams which monitor activity on the markets on both a real time and post trade basis and enhance the surveillance systems. The purpose of monitoring by Market Supervision is to ensure that trading is orderly and efficient, and in compliance with applicable clients rules and to identify activity which may indicate market abuse as outlined in the Market Abuse Regulation.
Tasks & responsibilities
In the role of Market Supervision Manager your responsibilities will be monitoring and managing real-time/post-trade trading on our client trading venue using the clients surveillance system. You understand and interpret applicable European regulation (e.g. MiFIR, MiFID, MAR) and its application to our clients procedures and processes. You will engage in senior interaction with our clients Member Firms to advise on specific rule application and to request information on trade/order queries, e.g. potential investigations. You manage and escalate live market events, such as trading halts or trade cancellations.
Furthermore, you will represent Market Supervision with internal and external stakeholders, such as market participants or regulatory authorities. You will lead operational liaison with Member Firms, as required, gathering information to determine if a possible breach has occurred. In this role you will draft clear, concise and accurate notifications to the relevant competent authority of suspected market abuse or manipulation. You assist domestic and international regulators with the provision of information as part of their investigations. You will have involvement in the review and consideration of member firm pre-trade controls over trading on the clients system.
You have an university degree with relevant professional qualifications and at least 10 years of experience in advisory/surveillance functions, preferably at Exchange or Investment firm level, Internal audit or risk/compliance functions. You have strong market structure knowledge of European cash equity markets.
You have good organisational skills with the ability to progress issues on a timely basis, be flexible and priorities competing work flows. You are and excellent fluent in both the Dutch and English language. You are familiar with MiFID II/MiFIR/MAR. You have confident relationship management skills. To conclude, you have good analytical skills, able to evaluate information with sound judgement, attention to detail and accuracy.
