The position

For our client, a dynamic and trailblazing FinTech company, we are recruiting a Global Head of Risk responsible for the global businesses (EMEA & LATAM).

Goal and scope of the role:

The Global Head of Risk is responsible for financial risk, enterprise risk, credit risk, merchant risk, IT risk, governance, internal control and audit management for the businesses in EMEA and LATAM.

The role will entail extensive collaboration with the Executive and Regional Leadership teams to drive new profitable business growth as well as managing enterprise risk and portfolio risk within risk appetite of the organization. The role has a customer-facing element, as the Global Head of Risk will be involved in discussions with key-clients and external stakeholders.

This position provides ample opportunity to dive into detail and lead areas of risk to design and elevate the function to be industry leading in nature.

Reporting line:

  • Reporting directly into the CEO.
  • Part of the Executive Leadership Team. Closely collaborating with COO, CTO en CFO.
  • Managing, strengthening and expanding the Operational Risk Teams in EMEA and LATAM (currently approx. 8FTE).

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the risk appetite of the organization in collaboration with leadership.
  • Lead, manage and supervise a team of risk managers and professionals responsible for the company's financial risk, enterprise risk, credit risk, merchant risk, IT risk, governance, internal control and audit management.
  • Manage and improves the company's enterprise-wide SOX control risk management framework;
  • Provide periodic reporting of risk management updates to senior leadership and provide ad-hoc risk updates to regulators as needed.
  • Work effectively with business units to identify, analyze, and mitigate internal and external risks to support sustainable growth.
  • Execute successfully strategies, resolve issues, and provide support on all risk related matters.

Candidate profile

  • A University - Bachelor or Master - degree in finance, auditing, risk, or a related field. An additional advanced professional certification (MBA, or other) is beneficial.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in corporate risk roles.
  • Experience working for international FinTech, Payment companies or similar industries is highly beneficial.
  • A deep understanding of risk management and extensive knowledge of financial risk, enterprise risk, credit risk, merchant risk, IT risk, governance, internal control and audit management.
  • A business enabling mindset.
  • Strong organizational skills needed to coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the capacity to engage, motivate and mentor team members.
  • Highly analytical with strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through written presentations and individual discussions with all levels in/out of the company including C-level executives of our Merchant partners.

Candidates who require any form of Visa sponsorship or relocation support will NOT be considered for this position.

To be considered for this position candidates must live in commuting distance of the Amsterdam area (2/3 days per week in the office.
