The position

In this position you lead and further develop the wider international finance function for APM Terminals in The Hague (Head Office). You drive functional priorities throughout the global organization, thereby further lifting the functional ability to support and challenge the rest of the business. You ensure the finance function upholds a strong control environment, and you provide value-adding analysis and timely/accurate reporting.

You are fully accountable and responsible for the listed key responsibilities and you report directly to the CFO of APM Terminals. You will work closely together with regional CFO’s, relevant A.P.Moller - Maersk Group functions, management teams on the terminals and external advisors and auditors.

This position offers you immense involvement in functional strategy formulation and execution, implementation of change, valuation of companies, driving performance, accounting/reporting and upholding the control environment.

Tasks & responsibilities

• To lead, motivate and further develop the finance department, tax department, and insurance department for APM Terminals. To ensure these departments are properly managed, that clear objectives are set for each department and that we at all times have sufficient traction in the execution.
• To ensure the consolidated financial reporting for APM Terminals and the financial reporting for companies managed from The Hague are prepared timely and accurately in accordance with prevailing accounting policies in The Netherlands, IFRS and internal guidelines
• To issue policies and guidelines as appropriate for upholding global standards within the wider finance function globally
• To advise the CFO, the Senior Management Team for APM Terminals and other department heads with value-adding analysis, insights and projections with respect to business performance to facilitate appropriate understanding of historical, current and projected future performance as well as the impact of contemplated projects
• As key governance role, to perform vetting of all major investment proposals before these are being presented for approval
• To uphold a strong control environment, monitor compliance and take corrective action where strengthening is required
• To monitor exposure to key risks and recommend risk mitigation actions to the CFO
• As member of the global finance leadership team, participate in setting functional strategy for finance in APM Terminals and driving functional priorities into the global organization
• Provide functional sparring to the regional CFO’s and other senior finance executives in the global organization

Candidate Profile

• Master Degree in Finance, Accounting or related subject.
• At least 15 years of relevant working experience, of which a minimum of 10 years in management positions within large multinational organizations is a must.
• A drive for results and the ability to operate strategically as well as having attention to the details.
• You do have experience with more entities in different countries, in the position of (regional/global) CFO or Head of Finance.
• The ability to possess empathy, personal tact, cultural understanding, and strong communication skills.
