The position

The ideal candidate has a university degree with a background in Business Control and Finance. You have at least 10 years of similar international experience in dynamic services or consultancy business, within an international and highly business-driven organisation. You have a track record and extensive experience in business control and financial planning processes.

As one of 2 Global Heads of Business and Finance Control, you have an important key position: you are the financial conscience and sparring partner for the Board of Directors and 3 Regional Directors who are P& L responsible. You bring knowledge and expertise to the regions in the field of predictability of business goals, growth and risks. You know how to challenge the Regional Directors and Business Controllers. You assess and challenge the financial, commercial and operational performance, support and steer leadership decisions with data on market developments, competition and future projects.

In this broad role, you are responsible for designing new strategies to stimulate implementation. You have insight into and focus on the business factors and risks of implementing the strategy. You are also responsible for various projects such as centralization & automation/robotization of processes or the temporary replacement of a Financial Director of a region. You work closely with the other Global Head of Business and Finance Control in Amsterdam and regularly travel (25%) to Regional Directors.

You have excellent communication skills and are easily able to switch between different cultures. You have the know-how to connect, mobilise and inspire managers and employees. As a person, you are analytical, open, pragmatic, clear and fair. You are able to act with flexibility at all levels in and outside the organisation. You have experience with operating at a Board of Directors level.

Tasks and responsibilities

The essence of the role of the Global Head of Business and Finance Control is to:

• Improve strategic and operational execution and financial planning and control/forecasting processes which enable Brunel to quickly adjust forecast and related decision making. Provide support to local finance teams in using financial data to improve reliability, effectiveness and efficiency.
• Improve the predictability of the business results and drive profitable growth. Make forecasts and plans on how the topline and costs will develop, connecting data about current and future performance.
• Develop and own Business Intelligence within Brunel. Manage data platforms, bring structure and continuity to market and competitor analysis.
• Assess and challenge the financial, commercial and operational performance of services. Value-based management: determine the main drivers/KPIs of profitable growth.
• Support and steer leadership decisions with (internal and/or external) data on market developments, competition, future projects and to add value to business decisions and execution.
• Pro-actively initiate and drive actions to optimize results and mitigate risks.
• Impact growth in existing profitable client portfolios and mitigate risks in strategy execution.
• Support development and execution of the vertical strategy and global strategic account management. Improve contract compliance and utilization. Optimize pricing models and control of execution of these.
• Prepare and execute business cases (open/close locations or businesses) and set/measure KPI’s and ROI on new (strategic) projects and investments. Steer on KPI’s for strategic projects and track the return on investments in the regions.
• Support and take ownership regarding M&A to further drive growth of Brunel. Perform due diligence on potential acquisition candidates and other third parties. Further develop investor relations processes.

Candidate profile

As a Global Head of Business and Finance Control, you see yourself in the following

• Completed university degree with a focus on Business Control or Finance.
• At least 10 years of similar international experience in dynamic services or consultancy business. Proven record.
• Extensive experience in business control and financial planning processes.
• Excellent social and communication skills. Senior in behaviour.
• Advanced knowledge and experience with Business Intelligence.
• Experience in performing Due Diligence on potential acquisition candidates is an advantage.
• Experience in improving contract compliance and utilization is an advantage.
• Your personality can be described as style flexible, strong personality, decisive, self-starter, autonomous, persuasive, confident individual, analytical, thinker and doer.
• Regarding leadership skills: adaptable towards other cultures or habits.
• Business-driven, authentic, ambitious, collaborative and hands-on.
• You have experience with acting at a Board of Directors level.
• Good command of the English and German or Dutch language (verbal and written).
• Residence: Amsterdam + max 50 km.

The offer

• Gross annual salary range, including holiday pay, of between €130.000 and 150.000 depending on knowledge, experience and personal qualities.
• Bonus of maximum 30%.
• The salary is based on a 40-hour working week.
• Lease car commensurate with position.
• With proven suitability after one year, qualifies for 'Stock Appreciation Rights'.
• Excellent secondary employment conditions and pension provisions.
