Finance Manager

The foundation works through several sectoral, cross-cutting and regional initiatives, and collaborates with a wide network of partners to advance progress towards this shared goal. 

The position

As Finance Manager, you will steer all financial and accounting processes within the organisation. In addition to this, you will manage several finance related projects, together with the Finance team. Your goal will be to identify improvements and to bring uniformity in the finance processes and (software) systems throughout the whole organisation. In this role, you will lead and coach the Finance team and report to the Finance Director. 

Tasks & responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will be Funding Source Management, where you will allocate the funding according to a funding contract, a budget and in line with accounting rules and regulations. Furthermore, you reconcile funding records between the grant management and the account systems. 

You will also be responsible for reporting, preparing financial reports to core funders and helping programmes in preparing reports on earmarked funding. In addition, you will work on creating an overall P&L per funding source on a quarterly basis, uploading income sheets in Adaptive, including contracts in likely stages, for the purpose of managerial forecasting. 

Candidate profile

In order to be successful in this role of Finance Manager, you have a degree in Finance and Accounting. As well as this, you have 6 to 8 years of experience in a financial role, preferably in an international organisation or a private foundation. Having a strong interest in climate and environment is a nice competency. 

You have proven experience in implementing financial systems, mapping software and database applications and you have the ability to link these to the organisation’s financial processes. Moreover, you are an analytical person with a critical mindset and attention to detail. Besides that, you have extensive knowledge of MS Office and excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English. You also have working knowledge in Dutch.
