The organisation

Our client is a fast-growing SaaS scale-up that helps industrial and manufacturing organizations digitize and professionalize workforce competency management. Their platform provides real-time visibility into skills, certifications, and compliance across multiple sites—enabling safer operations, higher productivity, and continuous improvement.

The company operates with ~40 FTE, generates €4.5M ARR, and is growing at ~40% YoY with 120–125% net revenue retention. Customers are Enterprise manufacturing organizations operating across multiple locations, using a land-and-expand go-to-market model.

Following a €6M growth investment, the company is entering its next scaling phase and is now strengthening its leadership team.

This is an exclusive search for a critical finance leadership role.

The Context

Finance today is supported by:

  • A very strong interim CFO (2 days per week)
  • An internal operations / bookkeeping lead
  • External accountants
  • Tooling including Exact, Unim, HubSpot, and Excel-based SaaS models

The foundations are in place, but the business now needs full ownership, continuity, and senior hands-on leadership in finance to support the next growth phase.

The position

What You’ll Do as Director of Finance

Ownership & Financial Leadership (40%)

  • Take end-to-end ownership of the finance function.
  • Act as the primary financial sparring partner to the CEO, founders, and board.
  • Ensure continuity and stability, removing dependency on interim setups.
  • Bring structure, predictability, and clarity to financial decision-making.

Reporting, Forecasting & SaaS Metrics (35%)

  • Own monthly close and board reporting, delivering board decks within 5 working days after month-end.
  • Build and maintain robust forecasting and scenario planning (revenue, cash flow, runway)
  • Establish a single source of truth for SaaS metrics:
    • ARR, NRR, churn, cohorts
    • Bookings vs revenue and revenue recognition
  • Shift finance from reactive reporting to proactive insight.

Operational Finance & Scaling (15%)

  • Professionalize finance processes as the company scales.
  • Improve spend control, PO processes, and cost visibility.
  • Ensure clean revenue recognition and audit readiness.
  • Own collaboration with accountants, auditors, and external advisors.
  • Align Exact, Unim, HubSpot, and financial models into a reliable operating system.

Collaboration & Stakeholders (10%)

  • Work closely with RevOps, Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Operations.
  • Align forecasting and revenue recognition with commercial reality.
  • Present finance insights at:
    • Monthly board meetings
    • Quarterly company-wide updates
  • Lead and support internal finance/ops colleagues with clarity and ownership.

What Success Looks Like (6–12 Months)

  • Finance runs predictably, calmly, and on time
  • Board reporting is no longer stressful or last-minute
  • Cash flow and runway are clearly understood
  • SaaS metrics are trusted across the organization
  • Finance acts as a proactive strategic partner to the business

Candidate profile

  • 8–12 years of experience in finance, ideally in SaaS or tech scale-ups.
  • Experience in a €3–15M ARR environment.
  • Strong in financial modeling, forecasting, and operational finance.
  • Comfortable being hands-on, not a distance-managing CFO.
  • Confident engaging with boards and senior stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS economics and subscription models.
  • Experience working with accountants, audits, and multi-entity setups.
  • Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus).
  • You value ownership, accuracy, speed, and reliability over title alone.

Important note:
This is not a fundraising-first CFO role. It’s a role for someone who enjoys building and owning a high-quality finance operating system inside a scaling SaaS business.
