Our client is internationally active in the fashion industry. Currently, we are searching for a CFO. This role is based in western part of The Netherlands.

Purpose of the job

Broad portfolio of the CFO: finance, supply chain, ICT, real estate and strategy in cooperation with CEO. The CFO will manage with 6 direct reports and a total team of 100 FTE.

Sparring partner of the CEO with a close working relation with the Holding company, shareholder and Supervisory Board.

Develop, implement and execute the finance, strategic and operational control function for the company, in order to ensure that the company’s strategic, commercial and financial goals are achieved.

Accountabilities: 

  • Support the growth agenda of top line, both Gross and Net levels for all  main channels: Retail & Ecommerce
  • Establish a robust and effective control environment that supports the profitable growth agenda
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative insight into top line performance development from Management Information & Analysis perspective

Core responsibilities

Strategic / Commercial Agenda:

  • Business Partner in supporting the implementation of 5 year Strategic Plan
  • Execution of the strategy: Proactively follows up on strategic and operational decisions taken by the Managing Board in order to ensure that the execution of the strategy stays on track in terms of timing and set objectives.
  • Develop relevant quantitative models for different Business Models (e.g. E Commerce, Own Operated Retail)
  • Drive deeper understanding of economics of (sub) channel dynamics within each relevant market
  • Stakeholder management and corporate governance: Is responsible for all relevant and legally required communication and processes to share holders (Private Equity & Management), Supervisory board and banks involved in financing the company.

Internal Control environment:

  • Support establishment of fit for purpose governance to ensure commercial decisions are being taken with full view of financial, resource and risk implications
  • Continuous focus on control aspects of Order to Cash processes – particularly ensuring new ERP set up supports a strengthened control environment
  • Support improved control environment in Subsidiaries around Turnover development (e.g. Discount framework, Credit notes, Stock sales etc)
  • Ensure Sales pricing models are aligned with Cost pricing models, these are well understood and are implemented correctly within systems
  • Continue to improve the control environment in Retail, especially with respect to systems integration (including ERP), retail administration processes and individual store audits

Performance Management & Analysis:

  • Provide ongoing (and improved) insight into Performance current year – including both forward for forthcoming season(s) and current season invoiced sales and discounts
  • Work with Reporting Team and Business Control Product & Supply to support improved insight into margin development and improved insight into development of turnover at Subsidiary level
  • Ensure continued improvement in reporting of Retail (sub) channel performance as well as E-shop
  • Develop detailed insight into stock positions and opportunities to lower investment in stock
  • Provide required input and insight into all current year forecasting and annual planning processes for top line

Budgeting:

  • Drafting budgets, in line with company strategy and goals, in order to give direction to activities in the financial work field and desired results.
  • Support in establishing stretching but realistic Departmental Budgets 
  • Monthly follow up on actual versus budget

Team support & development:

  • Direct management, supervision of the complete finance, IT, real estate, supply chain team (100FTE)
  • Establish required working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

IT:

  • Maintenance of the ERP system (Oracle)
  • Ensures the availability of systems and hardware to support the business and working processes throughout the total organisation
  • Create a vision on future IT strategy

Real Estate

  • Managing RE team
  • Chairman of RE committee in the Board
  • Responsible for (re-negotiations) rental agreements
  • Review of retail investments proposals

Supply Chain

  • Managing the Supply chain organisations
  • Responsible for the logistics process
  • Coordination of import & export department

Candidate requirements:

  • Masters degree in Business Economics/administration preferably with a post qualification (RA/CA/CPA or CMA/CIMA/RC)
  • Fluent knowledge of English, both written and verbal
  • 15 years+ working experience in Financial Management roles, demonstrating increased levels of responsibility. 
  • Demonstrable experience in improving control environment, implementing change effectively, developing people and influencing Senior Management with insightful analysis
  • Willingness to travel internationally (within the EU and China)
  • Experience in Retail highly desirable in recent experience, in retail business models and/or Fashion would be a plus
