The position

ASML’s cutting-edge chip-making equipment empowers its customers to develop ever faster, smaller, and cheaper microchips. To strengthen its leading position, the Strategic Decision Support Consultant will lead cross-divisional project teams and enable senior leadership to make high-quality decisions. A challenging position with lots of exposure and impact.

Tasks & responsibilities

The Strategic Decision Support (SDS) Consultant will join ASML’s SDS Department, which is part of the Finance organization. This team consists of eight people from diverse backgrounds: different nationalities, a mix of consulting and corporate backgrounds, and work experience ranging from three to over twenty-five years. The SDS Consultant will support, lead, and facilitate cross-functional project teams and have frequent interactions with ASML’s senior management – including C-suite – to support robust strategic decision-making.

The SDS Consultant will drive progress on a large variety of topics and challenges, such as portfolio development, strategic (supplier) transactions, M&A, and footprint and capacity decisions. They will guide project teams through the appropriate processes, analyses, and governance and structure (quantitative) insights to provide senior management with a solid basis for decision-making.

Leading without a formal hierarchy is a key part of the role. The SDS Consultant will spearhead teams consisting of senior managers (often N-1 and N-2) from across the organization. They will also proactively involve a wide range of stakeholders and C-level decision-makers with effective communications and fact-based insights. Additionally, the SDS Consultant will guide and develop junior SDS team members through, e.g., learning on the job and coaching sessions.

On top of their project management responsibilities, the SDS Consultant will be part of the internal faculty for Decision Quality (DQ). They build the decision quality and decision science capability within ASML and help the organization apply best practices and decision science concepts, processes, and tools.

Candidate profile*

• MSc or PhD degree in quantitative field of study, e.g., operations research, econometrics, mathematics, engineering, or physics
• Background at top-tier strategy consulting firm (Engagement Manager to Associate Principal level)
• Or over 10 years of work experience in similar roles at technology-driven corporate
• Experience leading strategic projects involving C-level decision-makers
• Affinity with finance and business economics
• Strong people and communication skills
