ING department Strategy & Business Change, located in Amsterdam, is the internal strategy consulting department of ING Europe. The projects you will encounter cover almost all of the ING Business Units and functional lines in Europe.

Job description

The management consultant is responsible for the successful execution of a project. The consultant leads multi-discipline project teams composed of Strategy & Business Change (S&BC) consultants, representatives of internal clients and (sometimes) external consultants. Management consultants are the key contact person with the client.

Place in the organisation

ING Strategy & Business Change is the internal strategy consultancy department of ING. Their clients are the management boards of ING business units and business line leaders. S&BC carries out assignments in the areas of strategy formulation and organisational and performance improvement. Projects have far-reaching consequences for the business.
The department has appr. 20 professionals coming from inside and outside ING, mainly strategy consultancy firms. The department serves as a breeding ground for future management.
S&BC has been asked by the Executive Board to lead the implementation of Managing for Value, one of the focus projects within ING Group.


The ideal candidate: 

  • Is a young professional with an university degree; 
  • Has strong (financial) analytical skills and is able to look beyond the figures (“business sense”);
  • Has a minimum of 5 years working experience; 
  • Is a persistent, open and convincing communicator and able to communicate with all levels in the organisation including senior management;
  • Has high professional standards and is ambitious, with a non-9-to-5-mentality;
  • Is experienced in working in a project- and results-oriented environment, preferably within strategy consulting;
  • Is willing to travel worldwide;
  • Knowledge of Dutch language is not a must
  • Lives in The Netherlands or is willing to relocate (office located in Amsterdam Zuid Oost).
