IHC has in-house expertise for engineering and manufacturing innovative vessels and advanced equipment, as well as providing life-cycle support. And last but not least the company offers sophisticated finance arrangements as a service.

IHC’s offshore activities focus on developing and producing equipment and integrated vessels for the oil & gas market and the renewable energy markets.

In order to further benefit from the vast market opportunities and to realise the anticipated future growth, we are searching qualified candidates for the position of Sales Director Offshore – Southern Europe.

Responsible for developing and executing sales and marketing strategies aimed to market, sell and service integrated offshore vessels and offshore equipment to the power generating markets in the region Southern Europe, with a focus on France, Spain, Greece and Italy. The position can be based in The Netherlands or in one of the countries in Southern Europe.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Developing and executing sales and marketing strategies in line with the IHC group values.
  • Specify sales and marketing plans and budgets by area, customer, product a/o market segment. 
  • Building, maintaining and strengthening strong and long-term relationships with existing and new customers. 
  • Develop customer management, decision makers and C-level relationships in close cooperation with other functional areas of the organization. Collaborate with internal (global) teams on the creation of service offerings and pricing proposals.
  • Identify market trends and commercial developments, opportunities and threats in the market directed at new or existing segments, customers, partnerships, projects or geographical target areas. 
  • Negotiate with clients regarding financial conditions, delivery times and other relevant trading conditions aimed at achieving optimum margins and conditions. 
  • Follow the headlines of the production and delivery of orders. 
  • Participate in formal and informal management meetings. 
  • Maintain regular contact with colleagues and provide and seek for support in specific commercial situations. Stimulate and promote internal cooperation and the realization of a positive cooperative team spirit.

Candidate profile 

A talented commercial professional who naturally applies intelligent commercial creativity in doing business. 

Obviously the right candidate possesses excellent social and communicative skills, the ability to establish new contacts and to maintain and deepen existing relations. As well as outstanding negotiation skills directed at obtaining results. Gains and maintains trust by being honest and ethical whilst strengthening client relations with a balanced focus on short- and long term results. Approachable and good in establishing and keeping good relations with people at various levels in organizations.

Possesses relevant general technical knowledge applied in selling custom made capital goods and equipment, possibly in the (renewable) offshore industry. Has developed sound legal and contractual knowledge in dealing with and setting up agreements with joint ventures, consortia and other juridical structures. Has affinity and the skill in arranging financial structures for clients in close cooperation with internal financial departments.

The candidate is a result-oriented self-starter who is flexible and tactful while holding on to the set targets. Independently sets out his commercial strategy. At the same time he has a natural tendency for cooperative teamwork and participative thinking, since results are strongly influenced by group processes. Structured thinker with an action oriented mind, the drive to excel and the endurance to build up success. Hands on and down to earth mentality.

  • Technical University degree.
  • Minimum 10 years international experience in capital goods or equipment sales. Offshore industry experience is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and in writing. Preferably (verbal) knowledge of the French language.
