The organisation

At Holland Dairy, the idea is simple: to buy raw milk directly from Ethiopian farmers for a fair price. Then, the milk is processed in the own factory in Debre Zeit into a variety of high-quality dairy products, which are delivered – every 48 hours – directly to hundreds of shops; a highly fragmented sales market.

Holland Dairy was founded in 2009 by Dutch entrepreneurs. It is currently supported by Veris Investments and Friesland Campina, respectively a Dutch food- & agri-business investor and one of the largest European dairy companies.

Growing from start-up to scale-up, Holland Dairy has experienced high growth over the last years and expanded the team to three hundred FTE. Now is the time to further strengthen all processes and develop into a mature organization.

Holland Dairy has a strong market position in the Ethiopian dairy market with a focus on high-quality yogurt. After a full rebrand in 2021, this is a premium brand with strong brand equity throughout Ethiopia.

The position

Veris Investments is an independent investment company supporting businesses that contribute to the food value chain in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Holland Dairy, which produces high quality dairy products in Ethiopia. The CFO of Holland Dairy will be a key member of the management team and lead the company’s financial management and IT.

The CFO is a crucial part of Holland Dairy’s diverse management team, made up of both local and international professionals. They will handle the company’s financial management and IT and play a key role in the development and implementation of the company’s future business strategy. Her/his responsibilities will include a combination of financial control, business control, financial- and business analysis (reporting through PowerBI), risk management and IT.

They are analytical and have a deep understanding of data and numbers and know how to apply them to effectively manage crucial financial processes. Leading a team of 10 financial professionals and collaborating closely with other departments, they will manage all data collection, analyses, and reporting within the company, including budgeting, forecasting, strategic financial planning and analysis, and cash flow management.

The CFO will also design and implement structured and streamlined processes and controls, enabling smooth financial, business and supply chain operations, used to support the company’s growth ambitions. They will report directly to the CEO and interact with shareholders, delivering strategic insights and advice used to make important business decisions.

The CFO has a vision for the future of Holland Dairy and is ready to play a hands-on role in this fast-growing business. They are analytical and proactive, always paying close attention to detail and implementing creative solutions to solve problems. She/he will join other likeminded internationals and is eager to immerse themselves in the local culture and become an expert on the market in Ethiopia and support the brand in reaching its potential.

Candidate profile

• Master’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, or related field
• 6+ years of experience
• Analytical and detail oriented
• Effective communication skills
• Hands-on strategic thinker
