Top of Minds for Kramp

The organisation

Kramp Groep is the largest agricultural wholesaler in Europe. With over 500,000 different spare parts and accessories, the company is such a reliable supplier for its customers, they directly enhance their efficiency and profitability. Kramp is known for its exceptional service, next-day delivery on thousands of items, and excellent value for money, which is why they are the ultimate one-stop shop for every agricultural dealer.

Kramp is also much more than a parts supplier. The wholesaler consistently improves its services to make them as efficient and straightforward as possible. By focusing on digitization, e-commerce, and innovation, Kramp continues to earn a leading role in the market and stays ahead of others in its industry.

“Kramp still feels like the start-up we were over seventy years ago. We have the spirit of a family business and the international success of a large multinational.” – Eddie Perdok, CEO

And year after year, Kramp continues to achieve strong growth. The company currently has eleven distribution centers, twenty-four sales offices, more than 3,500 employees, and over one billion euros in revenue. As a leading player in its niche market, and supported by investor NPM Capital, Kramp is perfectly positioned to continue its significant growth model. Strategic acquisitions are a key part of its expansion strategy. Through M&A, the wholesaler wants to expand its footprint in Europe and develop into adjacent markets, such as forest & grasscare and construction.

The position

Kramp is Europe’s number one agricultural wholesaler and is still growing fast. To continue its growth, the Corporate Development Manager will translate the overall strategy into initiatives and lead their implementation. The role offers great opportunities for impact and exposure and is an excellent stepping-stone from strategy to line management.

Tasks & responsibilities

The Corporate Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and implementing initiatives that contribute to Kramp’s overall strategy. They will manage these from start to finish, stimulating cross-functional collaboration and ensuring alignment between stakeholders. The Corporate Development Manager will report to the Corporate Development Director and gets the freedom to alternate their work location between Kramp’s headquarters in Varsseveld, the Kramp Hub in Utrecht, and remote working.

“The Corporate Development Department springboards our future leaders. It’s a great landing spot where they can get to know our business and ready themselves for exciting next steps, e.g., in country management or group functions.” – Franc Verhage, Corporate Development Director

Project management makes up the core of the position. The Corporate Development Manager will take full ownership of initiatives, driving the content and ensuring results are achieved within the given time and budget. Their responsibilities will include defining deliverables, scope, timelines, and milestones, setting up business cases, and managing ad-hoc requests. The Corporate Development Manager will also conduct analyses, ensure coordination between different initiatives and departments, synthesize findings, and present the results to management.

Specific projects the Corporate Development Manager could work on include the entry of new markets and industries, assortment and brand strategies, and the acceleration of country performance. When working on country-specific initiatives, they will collaborate with local teams which could require international travel. M&A will be another recurring topic. The Corporate Development Manager will be involved in evaluating acquisition candidates and driving post-acquisition integrations.

Cooperation and communication are key attributes of the Corporate Development Manager. They will provide guidance to colleagues in setting up and structuring initiatives, involve and inform the right stakeholders, and communicate proactively with senior management about progress and challenges.

The Corporate Development Manager will be working on the intersection of strategy and M&A. They will get the opportunity to get to know the organization, learn everything there is to know about Kramp’s business, and have regular interactions with senior leadership. That makes the position a great stepping-stone from strategy towards a position in line management.
