The organisation

Veramaris is a 50:50 joint venture of DSM and Evonik for the production of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA from natural marine algae. Located in Delft, the Netherlands, Veramaris was launched in 2018, because its parent companies shared a vision: to conserve marine life by using a resource the ocean provides: natural marine microalgae. Veramaris enables partners along the value chain to become independent from wild-caught fish and meet the growing demand for animal protein responsibly.

The position

As Director Business Development Retail Europe you will create and develop new markets for Veramaris’ solution, driving the accelerated growth phase of Veramaris globally. 

As Director Business Development Retail Europe you will develop new markets by using marketing along the value chain, scouting and identifying business opportunities in both existing supply chains and new segments species. Next to this you will lead, execute and deliver business goals which influence and convince multiple stakeholders along the value chain (“Farm to Fork”) to accelerate adoption of Veramaris. 

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Managing the product/ solution introduction across the value chain with team members having clear line of sight 
  • Promoting the new "Value Chain Marketing Approach" as essential business model 
  • Interaction with regulatory stakeholders, cooperation with NGO's on the impact of sustainable solutions in the salmon industry
  • Developing value concepts & propositions with clear returns for the different stakeholders across the value chain 
  • Implementing, organizing & managing business plans within set targets
  • Applying appropriate marketing collateral & value proposition tools to convince multiple stakeholders to deliver targets
  • Maintaining an entrepreneurial portfolio of feasibility studies & leads, managing the risk/ reward ratio of development efforts
  • Building network of internal/ external contacts
  • Working with the team across the value chain having clear line of sight to be successful in Pull & Push strategy

Candidate profile

Veramaris is looking for an experienced commercial candidate, educated on sustainability and experienced in retail within Europe. A candidate known to the principle of marketing along the value chain that knows how to create demand from the retail sector. 

You:

  • Obtained a degree in environmental economics, natural sciences or a related field of studies with a focus on sustainability
  • Have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience
  • Have several years of experience in complex consultancy and/or experience with “Marketing along the Value Chain”
  • Have professional experience in international project management, strategy development as well as in external stakeholder management (e.g. industry associations, regulatory groups, NGOs)
  • Have proven leadership and networking skills, entrepreneurial motivation and readiness for new challenges
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills in German and English with strong intercultural competence
  • Willingness to travel internationally
