The organisation

Satelligence provides global corporations – such as Mondelez, PepsiCo, Cargill, Unilever, Rabobank, and many more – with critical sustainability insights to empower them to minimize their global environmental footprint. The scale-up helps them get a deep understanding of their own supply chains, which are often complex and scattered. By combining data from ESA and NASA satellites with AI-powered predictive modelling and in-depth local expertise, Satelligence presents actionable intel that supports their clients in protecting the planet and achieving net-zero supply chains.

Satelligence’s subscription services offer value to every company directly or indirectly involved in agriculture, e.g., farmers, traders, manufacturers, agribusinesses, and financial institutions with agricultural investments. The scale-up constructs real-time dashboards and reports that allow their clients to track their progress against climate objectives, protecting them from risks like deforestation and inspiring them to operate more sustainably.

The scale-up – founded in 2016 – currently employs about 27 people, working out of offices in Utrecht, Washington DC, and several locations in Asia-Pacific, Africa, and South-America. Satelligence has been growing fast and works tirelessly to expand their client base and extend their services. To further accelerate growth the scale-up is looking for specific expertise to add to their team.

The position

Satelligence is a leading and fast-growing scale-up that uses satellite images to empower corporations to make their supply chain more sustainable. The CCO accelerates growth by building and leading the commercial organization and sourcing new clients and deals. A great opportunity to contribute to a net-zero future and combat deforestation.

Tasks & responsibilities

The CCO brings the commercial organization of Satelligence to the next level. They will build and lead the Commercial Team and be responsible for achieving the ambitious commercial growth objectives. The CCO will be part of the Leadership Team, work closely with the directors, and contribute to the overall direction and strategy of Satelligence. Strong performance by the CCO – being a potential key contributor to the future of the scale-up – can be awarded with equity.

One of the CCO’s main responsibilities will be to increase revenue by growing the client base to over a hundred plus companies and boosting sales through cross- and upsell. So far, the scale-up has mainly focused on supply chains involving palm oil and are now adding other commodities, like soy, cocao, rubber, beef, and leather. This will give the CCO plenty of opportunity to tap into new markets. In sourcing new deals, the CCO will work closely with the C-suite of financial institutions and large corporations to convince them of the added value Satelligence can bring to their business.

Another key responsibility of the CCO is to build and lead the Commercial Team. Currently, this team consists of about ten people and is divided into Sales, Marketing, Business Development, and Account Management (partly located remotely in e.g., USA, Indonesia, Uruguay, and Côte d’Ivoire). With their experience in leading commercial organizations, the CCO puts in place the appropriate structure and way of working that optimizes short-term commercial performance and facilitates rapid scale up.
