Impala Studios’ apps are among the highest ranking in the App Store and Google Play Store. Whether it’s the weather forecast or checking flight schedules, doing calculations, making music or playing a game, chances are high it’s one of Impala Studios’ apps. The focus of Impala Studios is to deliver excellent usability, a great app should not only work seamlessly, but it also needs to be making life more comfortable.

Impala is unique since they ideate, design, develop and market the apps they create themselves. All knowledge from end to end is based in-house, in this way Impala stays on top of the ever-changing app market. A motivated group of around 60 talented people is working in agile teams. The Marketing team plays a central role within the organization, interfacing continuously with the Product, Technology and Design teams. Empowering the organization to achieve their ambitious growth targets through the development of strategic marketing tools and capabilities to drive User Acquisition (UA) is the main objective.

The position

Impala Studios is a leading mobile app developing company with a wide portfolio of owned apps on the App Store, and Google Play Store. Impala is growing the business rapidly and has as a main focus for the coming years to drive user acquisition for their full app portfolio. The Head of Marketing will be responsible for designing the strategic marketing tools and capabilities in order to target users effectively and maximize conversion.  

Tasks & responsibilities

The mission of the Head of Marketing is to drive user acquisition by designing a cutting-edge marketing strategy and develop a highly capable team in order to target users effectively and maximize conversion. The Head of Marketing is a member of the Management team together with the Managing Director, Head of Products, Head of Technology, Design Manager and the Head of People & Culture, and reports to the MD.  

The organization at Impala is grouped around products, meaning the various apps. For each app the strategic product plan as well as the growth objectives have been defined. The Marketing Team works together with the Product Teams to tailor for each product state-of-the art marketing plans, driving UA and achieving the commercial targets. The Head of Marketing understands the app market and ignites the team to stay at the forefront of App Store Optimization tactics and delight users with well-targeted screens, icons and a perfectly integrated user experience.

Making a shift from a defensive to an offensive marketing approach will be supported with a significant increase of the marketing budget. Therefore, a well-founded strategic approach is essential as well as measuring the impact of marketing spend. The Head of Marketing is data-savvy and will take the lead in creating an integrated view of the available data platforms through Appsflyer and turn insights into strategic tools. This means to gather insights on lifetime value of users, ratings & reviews and number of downloads and base strategic decisions on solid data analysis, increasing the return on advertising spend. 

The actual Marketing team consists of 10 people, the team lead Product Marketing, three Product Marketers who report indirectly, three ASO and UA specialists, two Designers and one Customer Support specialist. The Head of Marketing loves to build a high-performance team and make sure all necessary capabilities are represented. He/she thrives on challenging and motivating the team, enabling them to optimize all elements of the UA journey, focusing on execution, elevating the overall team performance and making the team fly.
