The organisation

Our client is a leading medical communications agency that partners with the pharmaceutical and biotech industry to educate the global healthcare community.

They create and deliver a full line of strategic solutions in the areas of Strategic Publication Planning, Medical Communications, Medical Education, and Medical Publishing, from traditional newsletters to to complete symposium organization and innovative e-learning portals.

At the Amsterdam Office, a staff of 90 (twenty different nationalities!) successfully increase their business.

The position

As a result of consistent double-digit annual growth, I am looking for an ambitious Program Director. Candidates should have strong healthcare communications agency experience (or equivalent) and be able to lead the creation and implementation of high quality, innovative, strategic medical communication programs for major pharmaceutical or biotechnology product teams.

The successful candidate will lead an account team, with responsibilities including client consultancy, managing and coaching team members, and business development. This is an ideal opportunity for Client Service or Account Directors looking for more diversity in their experience, or for someone looking to take a step up and grow in a dynamic environment.

The offer

You’ll get a demanding but rewarding, entrepreneurial position. Your contract will be 36 hrs per week. You will be entitled to 27 days annual holiday; extra time you might put in can be compensated with extra days off.

This position carries many additional benefits. They pay an extra month’s salary every year (the “13th month”), plus an annual bonus, and they pay two-thirds of your pension, plus offering a corporate health-insurance discount.

Candidate profile

Ideally you meet as much as possible of these criteria:

  • Strong leadership and people development skills
  • Creative flair 
  • Proven consultancy skills 
  • Proven experience in leading medical communications/education accounts, including both live event and digital deliverables 
  • A strong interest in communication and/or adult education best practices 
  • Experience in marketing / medical affairs a strong plus 
  • Experience in leading matrix teams 
  • Strong, confident communication skills 
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
