Our client is an international listed company with divisional headquarter located in the region of Amsterdam.

In order to support the path towards the future, our client requires to appoint a Divisional Finance Director based in Amsterdam reporting to the CFO Europe. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Europe Finance Team and has line responsibility for Planning & Control, Divisional Accounting and Finance subjects such as compliance, audit, statutory and treasury accounting.

Tasks/ responsibilities

  • Reporting to CFO Europe and managing a team of approximately 7fte. 
  • Develop a comprehensive financial accounting team servicing statutory and commercial consolidation & reporting, co-ordination of external auditors, tax & treasury administration, finance management of corporate investments and compliance with corporate processes, systems & procedures. 
  • Support the performance management process including the management of the planning & control cycle at strategy, budget & actual levels and preparation of business review meetings to drive execution of improvement initiatives and challenge and support European Management to achieve targets. 
  • Provide organisational business support & controlling services for the full range of divisional shared services for marketing, sourcing, insurance, ICT and treasury. 
  • Ensure the concept and implementation of risk management, business controls and compliance to company and local requirements. 
  • Project management in relation to business improvement, tax, treasury and M&A activities.

To be successful in this role, in this organisation but mainly in this industry you need to be entrepreneurial, resourceful and very keen to learn how the business is developing. Our experience is that you can be successful in this role when you not only position yourself from the content but you develop a sound business acumen which helps you creating and reading dashboards to understand the business what helps you in your tasks and responsibilities.

Additional requirements are:

  • A recognised qualification in finance, business or economics. An additional RA/RC qualification is a pré. 
  • Good knowledge on financial reporting (IFRS). 
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 15 years (late 30/ early 40) in successfully managing a significant finance operation within a substantial, international organisation (present positions of the candidate are most likely corporate control/ reporting & consolidation type of positions). 
  • Experience with planning & control (not necessarily end responsibility), process change and ICT implementations. 
  • Proven managerial skills in leading teams and being part of a management team. 
  • Personally and professionally driven, commercial, pragmatic, articulate and culturally sensitive. 
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (written and oral).

Key competences:

  • Anticipation - good insight in critical issues and takes measurements in relation to his/her responsibilities. 
  • Helicopter view - has overview over detailed as well total view of elements. 
  • Analytical - quickly understands the presence and the consequences for the company based on limited information. 
  • Motivator / persuasiveness (hi-Energy level in presentation) – stimulates / persuade stake holders of the position to get involved in specific results. 
  • Punctuality - to be successful in basic reporting responsibilities.
