The organisation

A leading international building materials supplier. For confidential reasons, the name of the client will be shared at a later stage.

The position

Currently the marketing activities of the organization are very much limited to communication (website and brochures). In order to have an outside-in approach, the marketing department has to be revamped. With the focus on simplification, strategy around product offering and pricing has to be developed and managed.

Marketing has to work in unison with Technology & Innovation, Production and Sales to ensure that the organization maintains its leading position in its solutions.

Purpose of the role:

• Through a structured Marketing Planning Process:
  • ensure that the market strategy is in line with the business strategy of the company
  • ensure that all aspects of the market strategy (branding, positioning, value proposition, product portfolio, pricing, channel and promotion) are properly managed to deliver expected results in the long term
• Through an Innovation Stage/Gate process:
  • ensure that the right products and concepts are optimally developed and properly launched
  • ensure that the projects entrusted to it are carried out in accordance with the pre-determined targets and budgeted period of time

The Marketing Director reports into the Managing Director.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Translate business objectives into an active policy in terms of product range, development and improvement. Manage the product register in order to successfully introduce or improve products through creative management of the product development and innovation process.
• Define and monitor/ manage the offer/ value proposition (product range, service proposition, pricing, etc.) and to undertake adequate actions to position the brand and reinforce/ promote the key attributes of the brand.
• Brand/ Product management: Have a good organizational structure which manages the development, marketing and sales of a brand/ product throughout the Product Life Cycle (PLC).
• Marketing intelligence: A thorough and fact-based understanding of the markets, customers and competitors to provide the organization with an outside-in view.
• Budget Management: Cost estimation and management to market the products/ brands properly in the various countries.
• MT Membership: Bring value to the entire organization by means of Marketing.

Candidate profile

• Proven ability to manage work flows with multiple stakeholders in an effective manner
• Professional with a clear business and entrepreneurial understanding
• Familiar with Stage-Gate idea to launch process
• University degree in Economics or Sales/Marketing
• At least 10 years of experience in a senior sales/marketing position within an international, publicly listed company
• Excellent communication skills, with the flexibility and adaptability to liaise with all levels in the organization
• Positive attitude, open minded and accessible team player
• Hands-on, pragmatic, result driven and eye for detail where needed
• Excellent leadership and people management skills
• Willing to travel frequently within Western Europe
• English; other languages are an advantage
