The organisation
Our client sells, installs, repairs and maintains navigation and communication equipment and provides connectivity solutions for merchant marine seagoing vessels both for their existing fleet and new building programs at shipyards globally. With headquarters in northern Lower Saxony, the company operates internationally from several offices in Europe and Asia.
The company is an independent supplier specialized in offering the best combination of products from leading manufacturers in marine electronics. The business activities focus on four areas: Newbuild, Sales, Service and Connectivity. The Service unit is responsible for the management and handling of installation, service, repair and maintenance jobs of our engineers or service partners worldwide. It plays a key role in the current business model already and will be even more important and central in the future.
To secure and improve the high service standards and support the further growth of the Service unit, our client is looking for an International Service Manager (m/f).
The position
- Providing a strong leadership in evaluating, controlling and developing of the Service Department with a total staff of approx. 40
- Encourage, motivate and support the team to always find and implement the best possible solution for the customers
- Develop and assure professional working processes and structure in the areas allocated
- Creating, implementing and monitoring the long- and short-term revenue and cost planning in cooperation with the CFO, supervision of timely billing
- Objectives based performance measurement of the assigned staff and the assessment of client projects, such as billable hours, turnaround time, customer satisfaction, material consumption and first-time-fix rate
- Acquire new customers and expand the existing potentials in cooperation with the Sales Management
- Selection, control and evaluation of the external service providers (service partners)
- Providing customer satisfaction and meeting financial objectives of the business unit
- Reporting Line will be directly to the CFO
Profile
- Economic or technical academic degree
- A minimum 10 years work experience in an international technical service company, ideally, but not necessarily in the shipping business
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years leadership experience
- Experienced in working with PC-standard programs
- Business fluent knowledge of English is a must
- Forward-thinking, results-led and convincing with strong communication skills combined with cooperative leadership and an authentic standing
- Self-reliant with hands-on mentality
- Analytical and conceptional thinking skills, an organizational and coordination talent
- Cost awareness and ability to think outside the box in accordance with the company context
