For our client, we are currently looking for a Finance Director – Groningen.

The position

The Finance Director hierarchically reports into the Managing Director and functionally into the CFO. Is member of the management team and manages a team of 20 employees. In addition, the Finance Manager of the Belgian sister company reports into the Finance Director.

The Finance Director is the natural right hand and trusted advisor to the Managing Director and the CFO and is able to identify and service other stakeholders as well.

To create and maintain such conditions relating to finance, administration and control, in order to substantially contribute to the achievement of company objectives.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Responsible for long term business planning, financial systems, and budgets as well as for legal issues
  • Contributes from the financial point of view, as part of the MT, to the opinion and decision-making in relation to the company mission, strategy and policies
  • Makes a considerable contribution to the development of strategy and policies with regards to the financial policies, administrative organisation and regulations
  • Designs and implements a professional management reporting environment and is always a step ahead with the growing businesses
  • Coordinates and manages the company financial-economical business planning and budgeting process, checks the plans and provides reliable consolidated financial information 
  • Oversees the effective supply of financial-economical information, including the systems and processes as well as the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
  • Ensures an effective and efficient implementation of the financial-economical plans
  • Ensures that staff meets the qualitative and quantitative requirements
  • Oversight and improve of the accounting and management information systems
  • Control all governance requirements
  • Assist in preparation of the Business Plan 
  • Reporting to the MD with a dotted line reporting to the CFO

Ideal candidate profile

Requirements & qualifications:

  • Experienced manager, part of the MT, used to working effectively in a complex and ever changing environment. Strong stable personality balancing control and growth with a strong drive for financial optimization of the business in terms of value, profit and cash flow
  • Has a keen business sense and is able to interpret and challenge business information with management in a professional and positive manner
  • Good accounting knowledge and knows how to translate the strategy in the corporate business planning
  • Knowledge of Tax issues, IFRS, treasury and VAT
  • Experience in managing M&A projects
  • Educated to university standard (RC / RA)
  • Experience with valuation, acquisitions and integration of different reporting requirements
  • International mindset and experience, ideally in dealing in with English/USA settings
  • Minimum of seven to ten years experience in accounting / finance, ideally within Media or Technology
  • Experience with private equity is an clear advantage
  • Is used to working under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Coaching leadership style, somebody who is a true leader of the Finance team and gets the best out of each individual team member
  • Strong team player
  • Excellent command of the English language
